Appearance

Overall, the two versions of Yoyo have very little in common, aside from their narrow red sunglasses and rectangular, almost creepy smile that has become nearly iconic for the character. Yoyo in Jet Grind Radio looks slightly chubby, wears a lime green hoody and black jeans, has orange hair, and his blades are black and blue with orange designs. In contrast, Yoyo in Jet Set Radio Future is thinner, wears a light blue hoody (with the hood off) with a orange strap around him, brown cargo shorts, has lime green hair, and wears yellow skates.

Role in Jet Set Radio

He is an unlockable character with no story role, and simply challenges you to a tag race in Benten-Cho.

Role in Jet Set Radio Future

Yoyo is the first character you play as, and you use him through the tutorial at the start of the game. Later on in the game, Yoyo is kidnapped by the Noise Tanks, and the Noise Tank known as NT-3000 poses as him while the real Yoyo is kept in the Fortified Residential Zone.

Trivia

  • Yoyo has a tendency to say "Yo" when speaking which could explain why his name (or nickname) is Yoyo.
  • Although there is no 'main' character in Jet Set Radio, Yoyo seems to be the main character of Jet Set Radio Future, given how he is the first character you play as and he is the only character to disappear over the course of the game to get some information on the Golden Rhinos. This is similar to how Beat seemed to be the main character of Jet Set(Grind) Radio.
  • Similar to how Gum taught Beat the basics in Jet Set Radio, Yoyo is also taught these same basics by Gum in Jet Set Radio Future, making her appear as the 'teacher' of the GG's.
  • After you save Yoyo from the Golden Rhinos, if you talk to Garam using Yoyo, Garam will mention that he's caused enough trouble "for the both of us" hinting that the two are friends and like causing trouble.
  • "The Concept of Love" could be considered his theme song, but this could be just a coincidence since it is also Jet Set Radio Future's overall theme song.
