Personality[]

Goji's behavior and assassins indicate that Goji is a very dangerous individual who is willing to do anything to get what he wants. Goji is also money and power hungry. He founded the 21st Century Project with the metropolitan government and became desperate to find an old indie record known as the "Devil's Contract", a vinyl record that can supposedly summon a demon. It got to the point where he sent out Golden Rhinos members to Grind City just to find the record for him.

Role in Jet Set Radio[]

Years prior to the events of Jet Set Radio, the Rokkaku Group, led by Goji, collaborated with the metropolitan government to co-found the "21st Century Project" as the future of Tokyo-to causing Rudies to be arrested.

As told in chapter 2, he kidnapped Combo and Cube's friend and former fellow gang member Coin; however, they never see him again and the epilogue indicates that Goji may have killed him. By the end of the game, Goji does indeed collect all three pieces of the record and tries to summon a demon. Fortunately, the GG's defeat him and destroy his operation.

It is suggested that Goji may have been killed or mortally wounded after the Rokkaku building exploded from the battle. Combo goes on to state that the Devil's Contract never had any powers, and that Goji was just trying to satisfy "the demons of his own heart". It is also noted after Goji's defeat, his son took over Rokkaku operations.

Trivia[]

  • The name "Rokkaku" in Japanese means "hexagon", hence the Rokkaku Group's logo.
  • Goji, along with Pots, was not a playable character in the original Japanese release of Jet Set Radio.
  • As a playable character, Goji's health bar is maxed out, but as a trade-off, he takes three times normal damage.
  • He doesn't do any H-Block (frontside-based) grinds at all. His grinds are the Acid Soul, Soul, and X.
  • Considering that "Grace & Glory" plays in the fight in against Goji, the song can be considered his theme song.
  • Players who own Jet Set Radio on their Xbox 360 can equip their Xbox Avatar with a hoodie that Goji wore in 1982 during a youth seminar.
    • The hoodie strangely features a Graffiti Soul on it. Since it is nothing more but a cosmetic piece, its likely that it was made for fun with no legitimate implications.[1]
  • Goji's model would be reused in Jet Set Radio Future, serving as the statue that appears in Rokkaku-dai Heights, representing Gouji Rokkaku's ancestor. This is nothing more but a cameo callback as both Jet Set Radio and Jet Set Radio Future are confirmed to take place in separate universes.[2]
  • Goji's cutscene model has a texture that seemingly shows Goji getting mad in a similar sense to that of Captain Onishima with his face turning red. Just like Onishima's texture, it goes unused in the game.
