Combo (コンボ Konbo?) is one of the Rudies living in Tokyo. Combo is a member of the GG's. In this game, he plays a significantly minor role compared to his counterpart.

He is also one of the few characters mandatory to recruit in order to finish the game, along with Beat, Garam, and Clutch.

Overview[]

Appearance[]

Unlike his Jet Set Radio counterpart, he wears no hat and his hair is blue. In this carnations his sideburns, a goatee, and dons silver-gray bug eye style sunglasses. He wears a black sleeveless shirt with six grey circles on the front, and black pants with Combo written in katakana on the back waistband complete his outfit. His skates are mostly black, with cyan markings which seem to glow against the dark field, and have blue wheels. In addition to his signature gold ¥ chain, he wears gold rings on his right index and middle fingers.

Personality[]

During his debut, Combo comes off as a serious guy who is very protective of his turf, and automatically assumes that the GG's were responsible of tagging it. In response, he challenges them to follow his line, if they fail, he claims they will be answering towards him. However, his attitude is different if Gum is present instead. As he calls her "princess" and does not bring up the idea of the gang answering to him. This nature is also present when talking to him as Boogie, as he assumes "fools" just dig him when she joins the gang, and in the Japanese exclusive dialogue towards Rapid 99 and the Love Shockers, where he tells them to be careful on having a crush on him. Combo shows a disliking towards dogs as he questions why the GG's have one, however, he hates goldfish more than dogs.

Role in Jet Set Radio Future[]

In Jet Set Radio Future, Combo is first indirectly mentioned by Beat as a "huge guy" wondering around at Shibuya Terminal. Combo makes his physical debut at Shibuya Terminal during the first chapter, after the GG's spray over Poison Jam's graffiti. He assumes that the GG's are the ones who sprayed over his turf so he gives them a challenge claiming they will be answering to him for now on. After completing the challenge, Combo notices Poison Jam's brief return to the bus terminal and realizes they were the ones that tagged the area and apologizes. He immediately joins the GG's afterwards. From there, the role he plays in the story is small, but he is the first character to mention Cube and her history with Rapid 99 at the start of chapter 2.

Dialogue and noted interactions[]

Dialogue
Chapter # Quote
Chapter 1 Debut [After the first police shakedown.]
  • What’s this?! Who’s been sprayin’ these ugly tags on my turf?! Hmph. I’m guessin’ it was you… it’s on! If you lose, you’re gonna be answerin’ to me from now on, punk! [To male GG's]
  • What’s this?! Who’s been sprayin’ these ugly tags on my turf?! Hmph. Was it you, princess? You’ve been a bad, bad girl. You’d better hit me with everything you’ve got, ‘cause I ain’t gonna hold back just because you’re a girl!! [As Gum]
  • The cue tone get you all jumpy? [Picking No]
  • You think you can do this too? Let’s see it! [Picking Yes]
  • Man, you're not all that. Here, I'll show you one more time. [To male GG's if the player fails]
  • You liked that, eh? I'll do it again for you. [To Gum if the player fails]
  • [Successful] Hey! They're the ones who messed up the bus terminal... Heh, sorry for doubting you. No hard feelings, right? We gonna be a team from now on. ["Combo" has joined you!]
Chapter 2 After joining the GG's.
  • Hey, why you gotta go out and get a dog?! There's only one thing I hate more than dogs, and that's goldfish.

When Rapid 99 appears.

  • I heard Rapid 99 used to run under a leader named Cube... I'll get 'em some day.
Chapter 3 After Rapid 99 reveals Poison Jam's hideout.
  • The deep end of the sewers is closed off because it's contaminated. At least, that's what I heard…
Chapter 4
  • Thing that ticks me off most is, the Immortals ain't worth all this talk and trouble. I wonder if they got somethin' to do with Yoyo's disappearance? This group is growin' bigger every day.
  • Fools just dig me, I guess. [When playing as Boogie]
Chapter 6 During the Noise Tanks invasion.
  • There's a bunch of real big guys with real big attitudes causin' a big scene over on Highway Zero. Maybe they might know something about the Noise Tanks. Man, where the hell is Yoyo?!
  • What is UP with Yoyo, anyway?! [When playing as Soda]
Chapter 7 After defeating the Noise Tanks.

Before confronting Gouji.

  • Here comes Gouji. Let's end this.

  • Did you get all the Graffiti Souls? We still got a full laundry list of things to take care of, you know.

Japan only.

  • Be careful to not crush on me [To Rapid 99 or the Love Shockers]
  • Damn you're thin... [To the Immortals].
  • You work on batteries or what? [To the Noise Tanks]
  • One bite - and you're gone. Haha! [To Pots]
  • Hey now, let me save. [To Roboy]

Note: No other GG dialogue appears in chapter 5 besides Jazz's.

Noted interactions
  • Yoyo - If Combo speaks to Yoyo after Rapid 99 appears, he will ask him "Doesn't that thing ever get in your way?", most likely referring to him carrying around his huge boombox while on the move.
  • Gum - During his debut, if the player is using Gum, Combo will call her "princess", in a flirtatious way. If the player fails his challenge as her, he assumes she liked it enough to have him do it again, unlike towards the male GG's where he is more direct with his words.
  • Soda - When Soda talks to Combo in chapter 6, he specifically asks him what is up with Yoyo, potentially implying that Soda might know something about the missing GG member at the time.
  • Boogie - Similar to Yoyo, Boogie asks another question most likely about Combo's boombox, this time asking if he keeps it on him when showering. If Boogie is the one to talk to Combo, he states that the group keeps getting bigger and claims that "fools just dig him".
  • Clutch - After Clutch joins the gang, Combo tells him that he is a jerk, to the point where he almost likes him, despite his actions.
  • Pots - As soon as Combo joins the gang and heads back to the garage, he notices Pots, and immediately reveals he does not like dogs, but hates goldfish more. In the Japanese exclusive dialogue he threatens that Pots will be gone after one bite, following with laughter.
  • Roboy - In the Japanese exclusive dialogue, he mentions that he wants to save his game after Roboy talks to him. A reference to Roboy handling save files for the game.
  • Rapid 99 & the Love Shockers - In the Japanese exclusive dialogue, he warns either gang member to not crush on him.
  • Immortals - During the story, Combo believes the Immortals are not worth the attention and it ticks him off as a result. Showing a disdain towards the gang. In the Japanese exclusive dialogue, he comments on their appearance with "Damn you're thin..." after an Immortal talks to him.
  • Noise Tanks - In the Japanese-exclusive dialog, he will ask the rival member if the gang runs on batteries after a Noise Tank talks to him.

Jet Set Radio Future Perfect Guidebook[]

  • Combo's high stamina makes him a formidable force in battle. There's no substance to the rumors that he uses his boom box to knock down his enemies.
