Chuo Street (チュウオウ街 Chūō Machi?, lit. Central Street) is an area connected to Shibuya Terminal, in which the player fights against several Rokkaku Police tanks and the Golden Rhinos bigwig, Major Arms.

Overview[]

Chuo Street is only accessible via Shibuya Terminal. Considering its literal translation name, the area seems to be an expansion on or inspired by Center Street from Shibuya-cho in Jet Set Radio, as like that area, Chuo Street is a shopping district. Similar to Dogenzaka Hill, Chuo Street is a loop, although the map shows diverging paths, they are usually dead-ends that force the player to go back. Similar to Dogenzaka, there is a winding sewer halfpipe players can take to put them near the entrance area, or go through an fenced off alley with garbage for the same result.

Story[]

In the story, Chuo Street is first mentioned by DJ Professor K in his first radio broadcast for the game, noting how the record store in the area was recently attacked, being part of Tokyo's "one bad trip". The first time the player arrives at Chuo Street, it is covered in Poison Jam's graffiti and must be buried under the player's own tags. Partway through this, however, Hayashi and the Rokkaku Police show up with a small squadron of tanks. The quickest way to dispatch the tanks is to grind along the barrel and tag the occupants of them. There are six tanks in total for this encounter. After the six tanks have been taken out, Hayashi appears on top of the building next to this level's save point. Hayashi can be defeated by tagging him out normally or knocking him off the building to end the battle in a hurry.

After tagging all of Poison Jam's graffiti in this level, the three monster skaters will appear near the iguana statue. Poison Jam will challenge the players to a race around Chuo Street. Upon defeating Poison Jam in the race, Poison Jam will travel to Rokkaku-dai Heights and will unlock the second half of that level.

During chapter 7 the GG's come back to Chuo Street as they are trying to find Clutch, when caught, he reveals where Yoyo is being held captive. In chapter 8 they return once again to take out the Golden Rhinos bigwig, Major Arms. He is ultimately defeated by the Golden Rhinos themselves as he gets caught up in their missile strike.
