Shibuya Terminal (シブヤターミナル Shibuya Tāminaru?) is the third area the player travels to in Jet Set Radio Future. The area was initially Combo's turf but would subsequently become the GG's turf as well due to him joining the gang.

Overview[]

The area is inspired by the bus terminal from Jet Set Radio. However, it is much larger compared to how it appeared in that game. The area consists of mostly bus terminals and large areas of open pavement. Shibuya Terminal has connections to the garage, Dogenzaka Hill, Hikage Street and two connections to Chuo Street, ultimately making it the central spot of the Shibuya district. The pair of Shibuya Terminal to Chuo Street connections is the only one of its type in the game.

Story[]

After tagging Dogenzaka Hill and unlocking Beat, the GG's will travel to the bus terminal and meet Poison Jam and are tasked to cover up their "nasty graffiti." Combo will be unlocked here by completing his grinding rail challenge, which is done as soon as the last Poison Jam graffiti is covered up by the player's own graffiti. Then, the player faces the Rokkaku Police with Hayashi being in the mix as well.

Later in the game, the bus terminal gets overtaken by the Noise Tanks and eventually the Golden Rhinos. Eventually the player must return to Shibuya Terminal to face Gouji and his tower, and take down two Zero Beats in a game of Tagger's Tag.

Mystery Tape[]

The Mystery Tape is located on the top balcony where Poison Jam flees to after you first talk with them.

Trivia[]

  • The area is notorious for the "Platforms" Street Challenge. To complete the Street Challenge, you need to jump on each of the 13 green bus terminal platforms without touching the ground (wallrides and grinding are allowed, as well as touching rooftops). What makes the challenge so frustrating is that the game sometimes doesn't register when you land on a platform. A good remedy for this issue is to do extra hops on the platform and that should make it register as landing on a platform.
  • In Jet Set Radio the first mission is set in the Shibuya Bus Terminal, as is the tutorial.
  • This is the only level that the GG's skate around in the title screen demo for Jet Set Radio Future.
  • For the fifth Graffiti Soul challenge, the Japanese kanji 乗 (no) of the verb ’乗り’ (nori) is used, and is read as "to ride", likely referencing the fact the green-roofed structures are bus stops.
  • In a similar fashion to Shibuya-cho from Jet Set Radio, Shibuya Terminal would also get redesigned during the development of Jet Set Radio Future.
